Software Benefits Maximization
Need
An international consumer foods company was initiating a “big bang” migration from SAP R/2 to SAP R/3. The migration was to provide increased functionality for company head-quarters as well as for multiple facilities across the United States. The company wanted supporting documentation and training developed to provide users with what they needed to know for Day 1 on the job.
Solution
Dashe & Thomson aligned the new business processes and developed end-user procedures to support these processes.
- Developed step-by-step instructions based on end-user procedures and written from a business user’s standpoint.
- Designed an online architecture and converted the step-by-step instructions to HTML help files, for accessibility within the SAP application.
- Designed and developed role-based training materials to be used by designated Power Users in delivering the training.
- Set up, populated, and maintained a training database for the exercises.
- Worked with the company to establish change management in order to motivate and educate the user community.
Result
- According to SAP, the R/3 upgrade was the largest upgrade effort ever attempted, and it was accomplished on time, on budget, and with virtually no interruption of business.
- The change management methodologies used ensured that users were ready for the change in the new business processes and enterprise-wide software application.
- Because of the role-based training, users were able to use the software within the context of the new business processes on Day 1 of the rollout. They consistently rated the training classes as among the best they had ever attended.
