Enovia/MatrixOne Web-Based Training

Need
A major corporation’s consumer products division implemented a customized version of Enovia/MatrixOne’s SpecCentral across multiple business units located throughout the world. Although super-users could be trained in classrooms, travel costs made classroom training too expensive. The division needed a way to make sure all users would know how to use SpecCentral quickly and effectively.

Solution
Discussions with the implementation team led to the understanding that role-based training would be most effective. After a lesson in basic functionality, users would receive lessons tailored specifically for their job responsibilities. We also found the world-wide implementation would require both English and French versions of the training materials, with additional languages a possibility.

Dashe & Thomson developed three custom web-based courses in both English and French with full system simulations. To test understanding, the courses included comprehensive, scored quizzes. The training modules were designed to be fully compliant with the company’s learning management system.

Result
Our client successfully implemented SpecCentral. The web-based training (WBT) modules enabled users throughout the world to learn the new software quickly. Users learned at their own desks, on their own time, which eliminated travel costs and the expense of taking people out of their normal work environment. The high-quality WBT helped lower support costs as well, since it covered basic log-in/out, navigation and search tasks as well as more complicated role-specific tasks.
