Instructor-Led Training - Case 2
Industry: Construction

The Need
A leading manufacturer of doors and windows wanted to transform the company into a Lean organization. A key factor for success in this initiative was to have an engaged, educated workforce as well as a trained and supportive leadership group. The company wanted to put in place a Lean Manufacturing training program to align key employees for the overall Lean rollout, educate them in Lean concepts, and equip them with the tools necessary for implementing Lean.

Solution
Dashe & Thomson’s Lean Manufacturing consultants led a team from the company to develop a course on Implementing and Managing the Value Stream. The goal of the course was to provide company supervisors with techniques and action ideas that would help them to forge a team of associates into a Lean Value Stream. The instructional design for the course included development of a model for implementing lean manufacturing concepts, videos, real life examples, as well as case studies drawn from the company.

Results
Training development was completed prior to the scheduled training delivery for the first value stream team. The training was a trigger point for this team to implement Lean in its value stream. The training was next delivered to additional value stream teams prior to launching Lean in their own areas.
