eLearning Development – Case 2
Industry: Healthcare

The Need
A hospital network with more than 2,500 employees was in the process of implementing the Cerner electronic medical record systems Firstnet and Surginet. Just-in time training was needed for surgical services and emergency department staff including physicians, anesthesiologists, residents, nurses, and registrars. It was important that the training be designed to address each audience segment.

Solution
Dashe & Thomson provided a team of training developers to develop the training. Our team analyzed audience profiles to identify the learning format most effective at achieving content retention and user interaction. We determined that eLearning was the most appropriate method to deliver Just-in-Time training. We worked with IT trainers, clinical educators, and nursing staff to determine the content appropriate for each role. We then converted pre-existing didactic training curriculum and paper-based workflows to role-based simulations using Adobe Captivate.

Results
The choice of e-learning as a delivery method ensured that the training could be delivered when and where it was required. Working with hospital staff to determine content ensured effective training that accurately portrayed clinical best practices and real-life situations for each audience segment.
